Meet David Owens, Team Member

David is a native of the Pikes Peak region and was born in Colorado Springs, Colorado. In high school, he was an active member of Rotary’s Interact Club. In 2003, David was selected as the recipient of the North Colorado Springs Rotary Club Foundation Scholarship. He received his bachelor’s degree in Communication from the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs in the spring of 2009. In 2010, David had the opportunity to teach Public Speaking at the same University where he received his degree.  Currently, David works in the telecommunications industry as a supervisor for T-Mobile’s technical support department.

Meet Samantha Bruner, Team Member

Samantha resides in Colorado Springs in Southern Colorado. Her father serves in the military, and her mother is an entrepreneur and the person with whom Samantha started a food tour business with her just one year ago. Samantha has a degree in Business Marketing and seven years of professional experience. In addition to running the company and serving as a tour guide, she also offers her marketing consulting expertise to small businesses. Samantha loves travel, cheese, chocolate, wine, reading, expressing her faith, flowers, art, and laughter among friends and family.

Meet Amy McBride, Team Leader

Amy’s family was among the pioneers to settle western Colorado in the 1800s. She graduated with a degree in Anthropology and Sociology from Smith College, and has spent twenty years working for nongovernmental organizations and local governments in Montrose. She currently is the development director for the Montrose Regional Library District, where she raised $800,000 to build the Naturita Community Library, chosen as the 2011 Best Small Library in America. She joined the Montrose Rotary Club in 2006, and is Secretary and Literacy Committee Chair. Amy has two sons, Aidan (14) and Liam (11), and enjoys hiking, fishing, cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, reading, and Scrabble.

The Final Team Has Been Selected!

Following our most recent planning meeting held in the beautiful mountain town of Edwards, CO on December 12, Amy McBride, the team leader, along with other key Rotarians involved with this GSE arrived at the final team roster.

We’re pleased to announce the following people have been selected to represent Colorado Rotary District 5470 in Alsace, France during the month of April 2011:

Margeaux Candlin (Aspen)
Amanda Hayes (Grand Junction)
Samantha Bruner (Colorado Springs)

We will post member profiles soon so you can get to know this year’s team.

The team is working on getting everything completed before their departure and have a final planning meeting scheduled for Sunday, February 13 in Colorado Springs.
